Sharing your practice with family

Not everyone loves yoga. Sadly none of my family will even try it. Nevertheless, hope springs eternal in my heart that one day at least one of my family members will share the joy of yoga with me.

In the words of Gandhi, Be the change you want to see. Bring your yoga home. Practicing yoga does not have to just be in the studio. If fact, a personal practice, a practice done in your own home can deepen your love of yoga. Bringing it home sets an example to your family that your health is important.

Find a space in your home to dedicate a place to do your personal practice. Having your mat out and ready helps motivate one to “get on the mat”. It doesn’t have to be an hour-long practice. It could be doing one restorative pose or a few poses, and then a savasana. It could be a 5-minute meditation, a few poses, pranayama, and then a savasana.
